Lindsay Lohan on Stage in Speed-the-Plow

Lindsay Lohan made her debut in the West End Theater, although people from the audience said her performance was not entirely amazing. Miss Lohan forgot her lines at one point and needed the assistance of a prop, during the second act of the play Speed-the-Plow. Lindsay Lohan played the part of a secretary, named Karen. The part was actually originated by Madonna on Broadway in 1988. When the play reached its end during the curtain call, Linday Lohan released a giant party popper which dropped golden confetti all over the people sitting in the front.

Lindsay Lohan’s stage partners were Richard Schiff and Nigel Lindsay. They played the parts of Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox, two Hollywood hotshots. They intend to present a movie idea to the head of a major film studio; however, their plan changes soon enough. When Karen suggests a different direction for their movie, based on a book she read, their plans get complicated.

A great deal of comments emerged in the press, after Lindsay Lohan’s debut on Thursday about her performance and reliability. The 28-year old actress got her reputation as a difficult person to work with after descending into drug abuse and alcohol consumption, as well as being arrested several times. Lindsay Lohan started her career as a child, in movies like Freaky Friday or Mean Girls. Lindsay had recently declared that she felt honored and lucky as well as extremely nervous about making her first appearance in U.K. theaters. Also, she said she was not going to miss any of her appearances in London shows. She added: “I want to be known for my talents and my work that I create, rather than a tabloid sensation”.

After the opening night on Thursday, Mark Shenton, a critic for The Stage said that the West End Theatre should not nurture the egos of minor Hollywood actors. Another theater critic described the part Lindsay Lohan was cast for as being out of her league: “There are really qualified actors to play this part and she’s not qualified. She was so out of her league. We are talking about the wrong Lindsay here. It’s Nigel Lindsay we should be talking about. He is a serious actor”. Lindsay Posner, the director of Speed-the-Plow defended Lindsay Lohan by stating she was indeed a very talented actress. However, due to her past incidents, she admitted to having taken a chance with casting her in the production.
