Apple has sent out a series of invitations to a press event to take place at the Campus in Cupertino, California, on the 16th of October, the Loop reports. The event will start at 10 AM Pacific Time. Although Apple’s invitation did not divulge any clues about what the manufacturer will present during the event, the IT media agrees that the only possibility is for a new iPad to be announced.
Given the proportions of the Apple event in September, when the manufacturer has announced two (or three?) new products – the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and the iWatch – the next event is most likely cover an existing product. Some speculate that it will be about a new version of Apple’s desktop operating system OS X, called Yosemite, others expect the topic of the event to be a new addition to Apple’s other product lines, like the iPad or the iMac.
More specifically, Apple is expected to unveil a new line of iPads, featuring the Touch ID fingerprint scanning technology, first introduced with the iPhone 5S last September. This technology is one of the most important components of Apple’s cashless payment solution, Apple Pay, and will be used to identify the user in case of online payments. Besides, rumors suggest the launch of a new iPad model, a “Pro” version with an even bigger screen (the currently available iPad Air has a 9.7″ display, while iPad Mini comes with a 7.9″ screen). The iPad Pro would be a product focusing on business users, as well as graphic designers, and generally people creating content on their tablet instead of using it for playing games and consuming media.

“It’s Been Way Too Long”, the invitation’s tagline reads – this suggests one of the existing Apple products getting an update. The IT giant will probably announce many news, including operating system upgrades, a new Mac Mini upgrade, or even some new MacBooks to be launched soon. It will all be revealed in eight days, on October 16th.
