Gigi Jordan, a former pharmaceutical executive and New York socialite admitted to willingly having murdered her 8 year old autistic son, Jude Mirra. She said she knowingly took an overdose of drugs and gave her son too in order too kill both of them. The prosecutor, however argued that she premeditated the killing and expected herself to survive the dose. Last month, when her case was opened, she showed no emotion while the prosecutor described the murder scenario to the jury.
The prosecutor said she had forced her autistic son to drink a deadly drug cocktail. There were clear marks on the boy’s body that she had climbed on top of him and pushed the drug cocktail down his throat with a syringe. His body was filled with bruises on his chin, chest and nose. The deadly cocktail the autistic boy was forced to consume contained painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicine. While sitting on the stand, on Wednesday, Jordan denied the accusation.
Jordan’s lawyers tried to convince the jury that she was nothing more than a mother who desperately tried to protect her son from her two former husbands whom she claimed sexually abused the autistic boy. Also, Jordan declared that one of her former husbands threatened to kill her. This scenario made her think her son would end up living with a sexual abuser and she could not let this happen to him. Jude was autistic. He had limited vocabulary and was unable to properly articulate words. However, she claims she heard her son screaming “Dad bad. Dad bad. Dad bad” and she believed this was a clear sign of abuse. The boy’s father denied the allegations and was not charged.

The child’s autopsy revealed the presence of four painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicine, still undigested. Orange juice and vodka have been used to wash the drugs down. Matt Bogdanos, the assistant distict attorney said the following: “His fate was sealed. He didn’t die fast. One by one, his vital organs shut down. It didn’t take minutes. It took hours to die”. He also added that while the autistic boy was slowly dying, Jordan requested the transfer of the money from his trust fund to her personal account. When police arrived, the boy had been dead for 8 to 14 hours. Jordan’s lawyers tried to convince the jury that she killed him out of love and desperation. If she is found guilty, she faces a life in prison sentence.
