Apple has “accidentally” confirmed a series of new features available in the new line of iPad tablets – the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 – on the 15th of October, just one day before the products’ official launch, possibly to “steal the show” and divert attention from the new Google Nexus product line, officially launched on the same day. The leaked images confirm the existence of the Touch ID sensors on the new line of tablet computers, a feature that allows users to use their fingerprints as passwords.
The “accidental” leak was discovered by the 9to5Mac website in the “iPad User Guide for iOS 8.1” available through iTunes, that contained pages about the new iPad models, their features and their photos. The leaked images confirm what rumors have told about for some time now – the new line of Apple tablets will look almost exactly like their predecessors, but they will have the Touch ID sensor embedded in their Home button. Besides, the ability of the iPad Air 2 to take burst photos – a feature introduced with the iPhone 5 – was also confirmed by the leaked document. With this move – deliberate or not, but the company surely says it was not – Apple has successfully diverted a great deal of attention from the new products its main competitor, Google has presented yesterday.
There are just a few hours left until the Cupertino-based tech giant will officially reveal its latest products and features during a press event announced over a week ago. Apple is expected to showcase the two new iPad models – the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3 – along with a new, larger tablet computer (rumored to be called the iPad Pro) aimed specifically on business users, plus a new version of the Mac OS X (Yosemite), a new line of Mac workstations with Retina Display and – apparently – the iOS 8.1 with Apple Pay included.
