Such cases of violence and brutality are not usual in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has had one of the lowest crime rates in history, for a major city. The apartment building where the bodies of the two women were found is considered to be a very popular gathering point for expatriates. The apartments in the area provide luxurious facilities, among which a heated swimming pool on the rooftop. The Wan Chai district is located in a central region of Hong Kong. The district is also famous for its high class restaurants, bars and nightclubs. It is also frequented for its more underground establishments, such as strip clubs.
