Charlie Sheen Versus Charlie Harper

Charlie Sheen, made famous as Charlie Harper, the main figure of Two and Half Men, might return to the show soon in the future. The actor was scandalously fired from the series in March 2011. The main reasons of the departure of Charlie Sheen consisted of his public criticism of creator Chuck Lorre and the actor’s  erratic life-style, characterized by heavy drinking and partying – a fact which makes Charlie Sheen – The Actor resemble Charlie Harper – The Character in a more than obvious fashion.

Interviewed by an Extra journalist, Charlie Sheen debates over his parting Two and a Half Men and answers whether he would ever consider returning to the TV series or not: “I would definitely do it, yeah, yeah. If they’ll still have me, I will be there. Yeah, I owe it some measure of closure. I owe it to the fans… I just think it makes sense’’. This decision seems to have been on Charlie Sheen’s mind for some time. When asked about how he believed the producers would introduce his character back into the show, the actor had already prepared a proper answer: “I have a brilliant idea, but don’t want to give it away. It’s the type of moment I think people would talk about for a long time and it wouldn’t get in anybody’s way.’’

The role of Charlie Harper, the degenerate, sarcastic and horribly rich womanizer was replaced after Charlie Sheen’s departure with the character played by Ashton Kutcher. The older Harper brother was killed off and Kutcher’s character came to live in his Malibu beach house. The latter would share the mansion with Alan Harper, the scrooge-like little brother of the deceased. As guest of the Conan O’Brien show, Aston Kutcher confessed that he did not take interest in the public declarations of the former Charlie Harper.

Since the Two and a Half Men incident in 2011, Charlie Sheen has starred in another on-going TV series, Anger Management, in which he plays the role of an aggressive therapist, Charlie Goodson.
