Call of Duty – the Best Franchise Ever

Activision’s first person shooter series Call of Duty was always popular, but it’s now officially the Best Franchise Ever, according to the Guinness World Records 2015 Gamer’s Edition released on November 6th. The book, at its eighth edition, has asked its fans to vote for their favorite games, and the result was clear – Call of Duty has surpassed games like Super Mario, Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto and The Legend of Zelda, occupying the top spot among the preferences of over 5,000 respondents.

Before you say that this is just a marketing stunt to boost the popularity of Activition’s latest game in the Call of Duty series, hear out what Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief at the Guinness World Records, told The Independent: “More than 5,000 fans of the book from 140 countries across the world took to an online poll to vote for their favourite games, and the top 50 record-breaking games were featured in the book”. There were several similar long-running franchises in the top – the votes cast for the variety of the games that were part of these were collated to determine which games make it to the top 50.

So, without any further ado, here is the list of the top 50 games voted by the fans of the Guinness World Records 2015 Gamer’s Edition:
