True Detective is the mysterious and dramatic criminal TV Series of the year, according to IMDb, which stars it as a 9.3 production. The first season of the series made its debut at the begging of January, and the month of November 2014 is meant to announce latest (and almost last) casting novelties for the upcoming season. Actress Lolita Davidovich and actor James Frain are the most recent two actors to be announced as recurrent roles in the second part of the series.
According to Deadline, Season 2 ‘’revolves around three police officers, played by Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams, and a career criminal (Vince Vaughn) who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder’’. Colin Farrell officially announced his joining the drama series in September, along with Vince Vaughn. The In Bruges (2008) actor is set for the part of Ray Velcoro, one of the detectives in the next season, more precisely, he will play the part of the ‘’compromised detective’’. Vaungh, on the other hand, will play the part of Frank Semyon, ‘’the carrier criminal’’. Taylor Kitsch is set for the part of Paul Woodrugh and Rachel McAdams is still in negotiations for the female lead.
Lolita Davidovich (known for the 1990’s Gods and Monsters, Raising Cain or Jungle 2 Jungle) will play the part of Nancy Simpson, the barbaric mother of Taylor Kitsch’s character, a full-grown woman who has developed numerous frustrations over the years, blockings which reside in her two guilty pleasures: smoking and heavy drinking. She is described in the above mentioned Deadline article as ‘’a former showgirl continually sucking on cigarettes and margaritas as she mourns the loss of male sexual attention’’. In addition, ‘’the role model’’ parent, turns her son into an earthly Zeus, as she considers him to be ‘’ God’s gift to women’’.
James Frain is quite a regular cast for TV Series – some remember him as The Tudors’ Thomas Cromwell, others as True Blood’s Franklin Mott, whereas others recognize him from The Cape (2011) or from The White Queen (2013). His most recent TV Series character is Richard Shepherd of Intruders (2014). In the second season of True Detective, Frain will appear as Jeff Hunt, ‘’a ruthless police lieutenant’’.
Fans are now left to wait for the last official announcements with regard to the chosen actors and plot – which seems to remain until today almost entirely hidden – and eventually enjoy another thrilling ride of the HBO created American television crime drama. True Detective Season 2 is said to premiere in summer 2015.
