Christoph Waltz could be the new Bond villain
Daniel Craig will be back as the titular agent in Bond 24 but a hero is only as good as his villain so you need a strong presence to get the movie going. Thank God then, that a certain Christoph Waltz is rumored to play not just any antagonist, but No.1 himself…Stavro Blofeld. Christoph Waltz is a strong possibility and we can only imagine how a fresh take of this character will be portrayed by the double Oscar winning actor. Waltz has been rumored for an anonymous role in the new Bond film but it wasn’t specified which one although word now is that he will play the iconic villain.
It seems that a source told The Daily Mail that Christoph Waltz will be playing Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the Bond villain most famous for his white cats and enjoyable ways of disposing his minions. As great as it may sound we will just have to wait for the official confirmation to come which will happen in December at a press conference.Things are pretty hush hush at the moment but seeing as the new 007 films kept a distinct realistic atmosphere, there is no reason why Christoph Waltz will have any problems. It’s a no-brainer. We saw in Inglorious Bastards and in Django Unchained how sly and collected the actor can be so Blofield is a logical step forwards.
Ernst Stavro Blofeld is one of Ian Fleming’s most recognizable characters (along with James Bond of course), as his first full appearance in movie form was in You Only Live Twice which premiered in 1967.He has been played by a number of actors such as Donald Pleasence(Escape from New York) and Telly Savalas(The Dirty Dozen). This version of Blofield will be more in tune with the vibe of the new films being regarded as more “sophisticated” and less “campy”. Something that Christoph Waltz can pull off.If Waltz is confirmed, he will be joining an all star cast including Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Craig, Lea Seydoux, Ben Wyshaw and Naomie Harris.Dave Bautista recently known for his portrayal as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy is also rumored to star in the movie. The film is produced by Eon Production and will begin shooting next month. Bond 24 is scheduled to be released in November 2015 so it’s still a long way untill we can see everybody’s favorite secret agent in action yet not so long before we get some Blofeld good news.
