Amy Adams to Become Janis Joplin in Get It While You Can

Amy Adams and Janis Joplin rumors go way back, as the actress was said to be cast in a movie based on the singer’s life early in 2010, but everything was left at project level. Recently, debates and discussions around the controversial subject reemerged and the highly awaited biopic might finally reach fruition. The name of Jean Mark Vallee (The Young Victoria – 2009, Dallas Buyers Club – 2013, Wild -2014) is attached to the movie, entitled Get It While You Can, as he is in negotiations to direct the rock’n’roll picture, The Hollywood Reporter informs.

Dallas Buyers Club writing team consisting of Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack reunites with their director for the rocking project. As the 2013 movie is also a biography – highly acclaimed by the public and receiver of no less than three Oscar Awards – we can only hope that Jean Mark Vallee will manage to bring this Janis Joplin project on the big screens. Apparently, Vallee has all the rights to be associated with a rock’n’roll movie. In a recent interview, the director confessed that although he is part of the movies industry, music has always been his number one passion: ‘’When I turned 19, 20, I decided to study film, but my thing was always music. But now I wish I played guitar or sung. I’m really a frustrated musician, I would love to perform. Every time I see a rock concert I wish I was up onstage’’.

As for the five times Oscar nominated Amy Adams, she also proves to be a good fit for a Janis Joplin biopic. The actress is no stranger to the works and life of the regretted artist, who died early, at the age of 27. During a People interview, the actress confessed that if she were given the opportunity to get coffee with anyone from the past, it would be Janis Joplin and concluded that “it probably wouldn’t be coffee”.

Amy Adams also stars in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes, biography centered on painter Margaret Keane, artist interpreted by Amy herself. The drama is scheduled for 25 December 2014 and has already received positive buzz from critics.
