Christian Bale has enjoyed all of fame’s fortunes, ever since he debuted as a little kid in Empire of the Sun yet there is always that one role all actors consider to be their favorites. And in Bale’s case it’s the caped crusader. His glory days when he wore Batman’s cowl made the actor into something that we deserved but not what we needed (Dark Knight quotes galore). Christian Bale’s performance as the DC hero became one of Hollywood’s quotas when it comes to comic book movies done right and it’s no surprise that he had something to say when he heard that another heavyweight star will continue the legacy of Batman.
During an interview with Empire Magazine where he promoted his next movie, which is Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings, Christian Bale was asked how he felt when Ben Affleck got the role of Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. “I’ve got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going, ‘Oh go on… Let’s do another.’ So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour.” Of course we all would’ve enjoyed seeing Christian Bale continue as Batman as his latest entry in the Dark Knight franchise, The Dark Knight Rises is still considered fresh in the eyes of many. But Christopher Nolan is not a perfect fit for the new film’s universe because his movies have always enjoyed a dose of gritty realism whereas the current director Zack Snyder likes to leave space for science fiction.
Zack Snyder’s first movie in the DC universe called The Man of Steel starred Brititsh actor Henry Cavill as Superman and now a follow-up will introduce the brooding knight as his next adversary and soon to be friend. Christian Bale will be replaced by actor and director Ben Affleck and will star alongside Cavill,Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Momoa, Amy Adams and Gal Gadot. Although Christian Bale is no longer cleaning the streets of Gotham, expect the new movie to appear in March of 2016.
