GoPro is the leader in manufacturing high quality sports cameras you’ve seen being used to film extreme adventures in nature and otherwise. Now, GoPro is working on a drone so that you can film the most inaccessible spots in the world without putting your life in danger. Aerial sports footage hasn’t kicked off as well as the GoPro Hero editions have, but the company is aiming to change that in the near future.
The GoPro Drone should be the epitome of drones with its own built-in sports camera that can capture high quality sports footage and anythings else you want it to. The GoPro drone should be a multirotor drone, but the company hasn’t confirmed these rumors. Nonetheless, company execs are happy with the way the GoPro Hero editions are selling and being used, disclosing that many GoPro users actually strap the sports camera to their own drones. In an attempt to create the latest piece of tech, GoPro wants to give sports people and extreme sports enthusiasts a way to film anything, anywhere.
The GoPro drone price and release date aren’t confirmed yet, but unidentified sources from The Wall Street Journal say that the flying contraption should be priced between $500 and $1000 and should be released early in 2015. Since these are just rumors, take them with a grain of salt until GoPro confirms them and spills the beans about the drone they are supposedly making. The GoPro Hero series has been praised for great quality footage and pretty good battery life, and has become the norm with sports fans who enjoy filming themselves or their friends with the mountable, durable cameras. We are curious to see how the GoPro drone will look like and what it will end up costing. Since the drone market is pretty saturated, one might think GoPro is a bit late to join the game, but how many drones have you seen with their own built-in camera? Not that many, I dare to guess.
