The Weekend Box Office brought by Proboxoffice.com does not seem to differ greatly from the Thanksgiving Box Office, the one of 27 November in terms of ranking. Different are the numbers, but The Hunger Games is still number one position. Once more, the lead position of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is incontestable, as the detached figure of $56,875,000 rightly proves.
The following places of the weekend were taken by Penguins of Madagascar and Big Hero 6. It is thus noticed a downfall of the sequel comedy Horrible Bosses 2 – starring Friends’ Rachel, Jennifer Aniston. The Fox animation of the superhero penguins cashed a total of $25,800,000, whereas the Buena Vista Animation followed with a sum under 20 million, winning a total of $18,770,000. Boxofficemojo shows the daily course of box office and the variations in sums are easy to follow. Interesting for this weekend is the decrease in numbers of the lead from the day of Friday and ending with Saturday. So, Friday is reported to have brought to the number one position a sum of $24,100,000, followed by a visible decrease on Saturday with a grossing of only $21,850,000. The last day of the weekend, although reports a more than visible decrease, still keeps Katniss Everdeen and her team of rebels on the top of box office with $10,925,000.
Penguins of Madagascar and Big Hero 6 of the weekend box office prove that family friendly productions are perfect as top positions. Of course, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is difficult and until now, impossible to outnumber. On the date of its release, 21 November, it scored as the best opening movie of the year, so its longevity as the first position is easy to understand. Anyway, a figure decrease is also visible in this sense. While this weekend reported sums of around $56 million, almost the same figure was recorded in the Friday of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 release.
