Indeed, a new HTC One M9 leak has surfaced. It seems that Hima is the codename for the upcoming HTC One M9 flagship and according to upleaks, the new device will be a behemoth no matter how you choose to look at it. We’ve already talked about the HTC One M9, but we haven’t had such a big leak until now. Since we do kind of trust upleaks, thanks to his track record of correct leaks, we should take the new specs for the HTC One M9 aka Hima pretty seriously.
According to our beloved leakster, Hima will run on a Snapdragon 810 CPU, taking full advantage of the 64 bit Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. We did estimate that the HTC One M9 will have at least 3 GB RAM, so upleaks stating just reinforces our sense of self esteem. The upcoming flagship should also up the camera specs from the 16 MP we had predicted to a whopping 20.7 MP sensor on the rear and either a 13 MP or a 4 UltraPixel sensor on the front. That asks for a wow, doesn’t it?
In any case, Hima aka the HTC One M9 release date is set for March 2015 at MWC. Other specs for the device include LTE Cat 6, Android 5.0 Lollipop and Sense 7.0, which we were looking forward to. According to the leaker, the HTC One M9 is already in the testing labs of carriers and should end up being released to all the major carriers in the US. While the HTC One M9 specs and release date seem pretty plausible, upleaks mentioned two curious things: Hima Ace and new Desire phones.
It seems that our source thinks (and we mostly trust him) that much like the HTC One M9, the One M9 will be getting a cheaper brother with an inferior chassis. Since we’ve seen what the company did with the HTC One E8, a cheaper version of their 2015 flagship would be very impressive if it were designed in the same way. As for HTC announcing new Desire smartphones at MWC 2015, we’ve the foggiest about what kind of devices upleaks is talking about.
While the specs proposed by upleaks are pretty impressive, the rest of the features weren’t detailed, so we’re going on our previous assumptions of a 5.5 inch 2 K display, 64 or 128 GB internal storage and a 3500 mAH battery. We also heard rumors about an HTC One M9 Prime handset which was supposed to be the more powerful version of the original handset to be released in March, but considering latest news we are split in our views. The HTC One M9 Prime we spoke of could be Hima, the handset upleaks is talking about, but it also could have been the inferior, cheaper version upleaks is calling Hima Ace. What do you think? Will we have two or three HTC One M9 versions next year?
