Pinć is the slick new three dimensional virtual reality platform that allows you to interface with your phone in an entirely new way. It was first rolled out for iOS which meant that until now, only iPhone users could check out this fascinating new approach to VR. Now, Android users can place pre-orders to be among the first to get their hands on Pinć. (Pinć is pronounced ‘pinch’ for those wondering.)
Did you catch yourself watching Minority Report and thinking, “Wow, that looks so cool! Why don’t we have user interfaces that look like that? Also, where’s my Back to the Future style flying car?” Cordon Media is here to answer some of your prayers with their Pinć VR prototype. (There’s still no word on those flying cars just yet, so you’ll have to keep dreaming about them for a little while longer.)
So how much do you think it would cost to get your hands (and eyes) on a VR headset for your phone? Pinć can be yours for just $99. Android users can pre order the Pinć Discovery Edition as a part of Cordon Media’s crowd funding campaign to take the Pinć from prototype over at indiegogo.
You’re probably thinking that in order to enjoy a cool three dimensional VR interface on your phone that you’ll have to haul bulky, unwieldy goggles everywhere with you. Cordon Media has got you covered. Pinć pulls double duty as a simple phone case that can also be a virtual reality headset in a transformation worthy of a transformer! And to navigate in your sweet new three dimensional phone interface, Pinć comes with two wireless rings that will provide multi-touch functionality that would make Tom Cruise jealous.
So how does Pinć work its magic? Pinć utilizes a custom built camera system that tracks your movements using the wireless rings. The wizards at Cordon Media have also thrown a full software developers kit that’s running on Unity into the mix in order to get the most from Pinć and your smartphone.
You can live out your Minority Report fantasies beginning July 2015 if you’ve got one of the following Android devices: HTC One M8, LG G3, Motorola Moto X, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia Z3, and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
