Two and a Half Men will reach finale after having aired for more than a decade from its initial release in 2003. One of the most appreciated comedy sitcoms of CBS will broadcast its last episode on February 19 and so, the high life of jingle writer and womanizer Charlie Harper will come to its end, this time for real. The TV comedy show will have aired by the time of its finale more than 260 episodes, definitely gathering a higher number of followers.
With this occasion, The Hollywood Reporter traced an older declaration of CBS’ Nina Tassler, who back in May was just hinting at the show’s finale, giving no exact date of the last episode (which was already known to pertain to the twelfth season): ‘’Chuck Lorre is creating a season-long event. We did very well last year with announcing the final season of How I Met Your Mother here too. Chuck is very psyched about this; he’s got some great ideas and very big surprises.” So, no worries TV Series addicts, Chuck Lorre does not intend to leave you unattended.
The journey of Two and a Half Men through the years was paved with numerous ‘’unfortunate incidents’’, which led to the actors’ leaving the show. The most preeminent example is the part of the lead, which was initially attached to Charlie Sheen, but who ended up quitting from the role due to his heavy drinking and loose life which culminated in his scandalous attacks towards creator Chuck Lorre. Once that happened, Ashton Kutcher entered the scene and simultaneously, the house near the beach, as millionaire Walden Schmidt. Another example of such sort, is Alan’s child, the picky and childish Jake Harper, played by Angus T. Jones, who left the show in 2012, as considered it to be ‘’filth because it conflicted with his religious views’’.
Apart from all the controversies, the TV series resisted as one of the most watched and appreciated, even though after Charlie Sheen’s departure, figures decreased rapidly. Ever since, audience has been split between Charlie VS Ashton adepts, the former camp believing that there is not Two and a Half Men without Harper, and the latter blaming the actor’s synonymy with the character he portrayed. Now that the show is about to reach its finale, Harpers or Waldens, we should reunite and celebrate the longevity of the show in any way we find fit. And never forget the other great characters of the series and the actors who portrayed them: Jon Cryer as Alan Harper, the scrooge-like, nagging brother of Charlie Harper, Conchata Ferrell as Berta, Charlie’s straightforward and imposing maid, Holland Taylor as Evelyn Harper, a total shrew, the anti-mother, with delicious tints of irony and sarcasm, Marin Hinkle as Judith Harper, the ex-wife of Alan, uninteresting, unloved and downright annoying, Melanie Lynskey as the stalking Rose and all the other charming women who acted as Charlie’s once or twice lovers, always passionate and more than sometimes vengeful.
