Motorola decided to take it straight up-top with their block-buster Motorola Droid Turbo. Packing some serious power behind the 5.2 inch screen, this baby surprises even the most intangible of tech-geeks. Let’s see what exactly this Superman-like phone has to show.
The 5.2 inch screen is not much of a difference compared to the iPhone 6 Plus or LG G3… Hell yeah! It might even top them in some aspects. The Motorola Droid Turbo is 5.65 inches tall and 2.89 inches wide. The screen is a monstrous Quad-HD at 2.560 x 1.440 resolution, with a pixel density of 565 ppi, which is more than the LG G3 with 539 ppi.
The Motorola Droid Turbo has many features that set it apart from the every-day crowd. No glass or brushed metal will be found on this device; NO, NO! Motorola went a step up encasing its jewel in ballistic nylon and above that, reinforcing it with Kevlar. Anyone got some bullets for a shoot-out? Besides the Kevlar protection, the Motorola Droid Turbo is coated in water-repellent material. So you can basically just throw it in the toilet seat and nothing will budge. The buttons are feeling like they are sent from outer-space; smooth and silky. And guess what? The SIM card slot is somewhere behind the volume keys. It’s up to you to find it!
The face punching doesn’t stop here friends. The Motorola Droid Turbo packs a what-the-hell 3.900 mAh battery. Compare that to the Galaxy S5 that has a 2.800 mAh, or the LG G3 with 3000 mAh. But considering the screen size it might last for up to two days or so! Wow indeed! Moving onward, we have a 21-MP snapper, equipped with dual LED flash that can capture videos at up to 4k on the rear.
Let’s talk performance, cause why not. The Motorola Droid Turbo runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, with promises from Motorola to upgrade to 5.0 Lollipop. A peek under the hood of this muscle-phone shows 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB internal storage (no microSD slot) and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip, running at up to 2.7 GHz per core. This my friends, is one sharp-fanged animal and it bites hard. And above everything else, the price is not a biggie compared to either the iPhone 6 Plus, LG G3 or Galaxy S5, just $599 full retail. If I were to make a nice, classy, top-5 handset count of the year 2014, no doubt the Motorola Droid Turbo will be at the top of the list.
