John Travolta is the latest name announced to join the class A actor list of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story. The FX television series gained its adepts from the very beginning, American Horror Story fans being willing to vote for Murphy even in the case of a crime-based choice. As the name of the actors who are set to join the production unveiled, admirers started to gather and the name of Travolta is, as in the case of all the other actors, a surprisingly interesting piece of news – the mere thought of seeing Travolta as defense attorney Robert Shapiro sounds challenging.
The first season of American Crime Story, covering ten episodes, will center on the trial of once football player O. J. Simpson. In a crime tale following probably one of the most famous trials in American history, apart from the condemned himself, the main part is represented, of course, by the entire team of layers. Until now, David Schwimmer, ex Friends actor, was announced to play the part of Robert Kardashian, main lawyer and friend of O. J. Simpson. John Travolta adheres to the same side in the trial, as Robert Shapiro was part of the defense team which defended O. J. in 1995, as Simpson was accused of killing both his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman a year before.
Variety notes that apart from being part of Simpson’s ‘’Dream Team’’, John Travolta will also become the producer of the 10-episode miniseries. A gathering of Travolta and Schwimmer can be definitely called a ‘’Dream Team’’ and it is yet to be announced who will be the actors interpreting the other party. The main figure of the season, O. J. Simpson, is already set for Cuba Gooding Jr., another great name on the list. Ryan Murphy decided to extend his Horror cast to his Crime project and assigned the role of prosecutor Marcia Clark to American Horror Story actress Sarah Paulson.
John Travolta is no regular television series actor and his role as attorney Robert Shapiro is the first one of that kind in exactly forty years. The Pulp Fiction actor was last part of a TV series team in Welcome Back, Kotter, which started in 1975 and when he played the part of Vinnie Barbarino.
