Looking at the new A-Line of products from Samsung, the two obvious contenders for the throne would be the Samsung Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A5. What sets these two handsets apart and what makes them belong in the same category? Let’s have a more in-depth look and see.
The thing that stands out from the design of the A-Line is the metal uni-body and both handsets feature it. The Samsung Galaxy A7 is a bit larger with a 5.5 inch screen, measuring in at 151 x 76 x 6.3 mm (long, across, deep) with a weight of 141 g. The Galaxy A5 is a bit smaller in these regards; its screen is only a 5.0 inch one, while it measures 139.9 x 69.7 x 6.7 mm and weighs in less than the Samsung Galaxy A7 at 123 g. The screen of the Samsung Galaxy A7 has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a pixel density of 401 ppi (pixels per inch). The Galaxy A5 on the other hand has a lower resolution at 1080 x 720 with only 294 ppi.
The hardware on the devices is quite different in terms of performance. The Samsung Galaxy A7 packs a nice Cortex octa-core, comprised out of two quad-core units, while its counterpart only provides with a quad-core that tops up at 1.2 GHz. In terms of memory and storage both devices are floating at the same level: up to 64 GB in internal storage with an added microSD card slot and 2 GB of RAM.
The cameras on both devices again pair up evenly. Both the Samsung Galaxy A7 and the Galaxy A5 pack 13 MP rear cameras and 5MP front snappers. They can record 1080p at 30fps and the cameras feature LED Flash, touch focus and face detection as they are designed with social media applications in mind. The Samsung Galaxy A7 features a dual SIM upgrade opposed to the Galaxy A5 which only allows for a single nano-sim. The battery on the Samsung Galaxy A7 is a tad larger at 2600 mAh opposed to the Galaxy A5 which packs 2300 mAh.
The slight difference between the two comes in term of processing power, battery size and of course price, and as such the ones searching for a faster multi-tasking device should go for the Samsung Galaxy A7, if not than the Galaxy A5 is just fine. The price on the Samsung Galaxy A7 is somewhere around $590, while the Galaxy A5 is less than that at roughly $460.
