The famous singer and dancer Nicole Scherzinger, became well known in 2000 when the Pussycat Dolls group was established. After some debates, she was chosen as the lead singer of the group, starting her celebrity path. The band was well received by the young public but was criticized by others as being too provocative in its music videos or during concerts. However, the band was nominated for a Grammy in 2007.
Before being famous, Nicole participated in the USTV series “Popstars” in 2001, being a member of the girl group Eden’s Crush. The contract with the band stopped her from becoming a part of the Black Eyes Peas, who offered her the role which was later given to Fergie. Also, she is able to speak Simlish – the language used in The Sims video game – which she used to re-record the hit “Don’t Cha” for the game. In 2009 she started to make a name for herself and began her solo career. Nicole recorder a pop version of the “Jai Ho” song used as a soundtrack for the Oscar-winner movie Slumdog Millionaire which brought her much fame.
Other collaborations with well-known artists helped her climb the popularity ladder. After winning the “Dancing with the Stars” contest in 2010, the following year she released her solo album “Killer Love”. In 2012 she took the judging spot on Britain’s The X Factor and rapidly became beloved by the audience. The artist worked regularly with various charities and won in 2013 the Artist of the Year award. She offered support for breast cancer research and became a Special Olympics Ambassador in honor of her aunt who had been diagnosed with Down’s syndrome.

All in all, her biggest accomplishment was the fact that she succeeded in overcoming her bulimia, a battle carried between 2002 and 2012. In an interview given to VH1 she explained that bulimia was her only addiction and the only thing that saved her was music which let her escape in a world where she could feel secure. Nicole Scherzinger is turning 29 today, and the celebrity will be officially launching her next single, “Your Love” on the 13th of July.
