BlackBerry has made quite an appearance in December 2014 with the BlackBerry Clasic and the BlackBerry Passport. To continue the stream of awesomeness the Canadian producer decided to up the stakes a little bit. It recently released a limited edition for the Passport with a black-and-gold build.
According to a blog post from BlackBerry that was announcing the new “bling-bling” handset, only 50 devices of this sort have been manufactured. The company branded their new produce as “gilding the lily” to the original version of the Passport. The BlackBerry flagship features a nice, large touch screen that scores 453 PPI in pixel density, a pumped up 3450 mAh battery that can reportedly last for 30 hours of “mixed use”. Some top notch software is featured on this shiny piece: the Hub, BlackBerry Assistant, BlackBerry Blend, Amazon Appstore and many more.
Even though the official version with gold plating has hit the market, relatively speaking, some BlackBerry enthusiasts went above and beyond before to customize their handsets in the most “blingy” ways possible. Reportedly rapper/actor Drake tuned up his handset for up to $3000, while BlackBerry Enthusiast Jim Opfer related his experience to a plating shop that took the device down bit by bit (30 screws to take out). The customization company Goldgenie will do the work for you, you’ll just have to search your pockets for $2.020 to make it happen.
If you fancy such customization options why not get it straight from the retailer. The 50 limited edition Black & Gold BlackBerry Passport are up for the taking. Each of these devices comes bearing an engraving (“Limited Edition”) along with the production number. On top of it you get a Valextra cover crafted from soft calf leather. To get your own won’t require to spend as much as others did on customizing it, though it doesn’t come that cheap at $899 in the U.S. It is a limited time offer and by the looks of it it’s gonna run out like the hot bread at the corner store.
