The Apple Watch was awaited to be launched earlier this year, with approximate hints at the month of February, but it is now official that the gadget will be released in April. Apple CEO, Tim Cook, was the one who made the announcement of the delayed release and furthermore added: ‘’My expectations are high on it. I’m using it every day and I love it and I can’t live without it.’’ Whether that statement was mere marketing strategy or whether the Apple Watch will truly stick to its users will be determined later on.
The Apple Watch is not only a smart gadget for tech aficionados or journalists to use along with Smart Phones, but also carries a fashionable design which will appeal even to the pickiest fashion-lovers. The wrist gadget comes in two different sizes (fit for both male and female customers), three styles and numerous display options which already turn the Apple Watch into a creative device. As for the styles of the Apple Watch, it is set to appear in three different ones, in order to fit a vast range of people, with varying interests and expectations: Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition.
Apple thought their Watch to represent a symbiosis between man and technology, as it is built to emphasize the close relation between the two. More than that, according to the company, the Apple Watch is conceived as a ‘’completely singular project’’, with no boundary between the physical object and the software. That the Watch communicates with its wearer is obvious from the very beginning, with its display being activated once the wrist is raised.
Apple analyst John Gruber was the one to estimate the price of the Apple Watch, depending on the style. The price range is the following: Apple Watch Sport with aluminum/glass: $349, best fitting for health and fitness, Apple Watch with stainless steel/sapphire: $999 and with an obvious leap in numbers – Apple Watch Edition with 18-karat gold/sapphire: $4,999. Although no clear announcement was made in connection with the price of the watch, these predictions are likely to represent the near-pricing reality.
The Apple Watch is used in connection with an iPhone and confirmed models include iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c and also the newly released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+. The OS of the Apple Watch was not officially determined, but rumors have it that a modified version and watch-friendly of iOS is in discussion. The watch includes a dial on the side, used for navigation, zooming and apps loading. Apart from telling-time, the Apple Watch will enable fast communication between users, including text message, e-mail and call options – as no keyboard is enabled, texted messages will be transcribed into written or sent as such.
As for the battery of the Apple Watch, it seems that users will eventually be obliged to charge the gadget daily; this affirmation is based on how much of the software and options will be used. According to official statements, Apple wished that the Watch provided: ‘’roughly 2.5 to 4 hours of active application use versus 19 hours of combined active/passive use, 3 days of pure standby time, or 4 days if left in a sleeping mode.’’ With no specific details, Tim Cook insisted that wearers will be charging the Apple Watch every day. As users purchase the Apple Watch not for its exact time-telling, but for its software and options, that is most likely to happen.
