Owen Wilson is regularly the guy you seek when you wish to be amused and entertained; he is that guy who makes you laugh your heart out, no matter how serious his role is. Because he is Owen Wilson. Back in 2001, we saw him as Lt. Chris Burnett is the war drama Behind Enemy Lines and we were not amused. Years later, in 2015, Owen Wilson wants to return to the thriller side of the business and the recently released No Escape trailer is one big step in that direction.
In the thriller No Escape, Owen Wilson plays the part of a regular American family guy who promises to offer his family a better life in a totally different environment. At the beginning of the trailer, we see Owen Wilson rezoning about his choice of moving along with his family ‘’at the other side of the world’’ and the words of his little daughter seem a premonition of an inevitable life-risking situation: ‘’What if we don’t like it there?’’
Guess who welcomes the Owen Wilson family at their arrival in the land which is nothing like the American dream? No other than James Bond, Mr. Agent 007 Pierce Brosnan, who promises the newly arrived the time of their lives: ‘’You’re gonna love it here.’’ Seconds after, an alert siren proves that the premonition of the little girl is close to coming to fruition, as the imminent danger approaches rapidly. It took only a couple of hopes and good laughs until all Hell broke loose in the foreign, unwelcoming streets. Owen Wilson then promises to his wife some other kind of life: ‘’We’re gonna die here.’’
The John Erick Dowdle directed thriller seems a tough ride, or at least this is what we can infer from the trailer. The idea of seeing Owen Wilson in a thriller-action sounds interesting enough; and when you add to this the participation of Special Agent James Bond, you start wishing that 2 September 2015 was tomorrow.
