Present at Comic-Con 2014 to promote the upcoming movie “Penguins of Madagascar”, “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch stole the spotlight! After hosting this year’s Oscars and ‘photobombing’ various celebrities, he has certainly made his first Comic-Con interview memorable! Fans have been waiting in line since 6 am to get into the Hall H of the event, dressed up in Sherlock costumes, despite the fact that the presentation has nothing to do with the famous BBC One show. Resistance was futile, and even if the panel moderator, Craig Ferguson, said: “If anyone mentions the S word, Comic Con will be cancelled.”, members of the audience went ‘wild’ once they have seen humble actor walking up the stage.
“You exist?” he asked the audience, showing his amazement. “You don’t get to see this normally. I have never seen this before.” Craig Ferguson asked: “First time at Comic-Con?” “Uh, yeah,” replied Benedict. “I think you will enjoy it. Many people are happy you are here.” So the panel began, and six out of eight questions from the Q&A section were for the British actor. He gave away some details regarding the production of the acclaimed BBC series, when a female student of the Queen Mary University of Twickenham told him about her studies. “Lovely part of the world, we film Sherlock near there, you know.” Cumberbatch spoke. He also revealed that he would love to play the role of Batman.
As for preparing for the role in “Penguins of Madagascar”, the 37 year old actor explained: “I worked in Yellowstone Park as a wolf for a while. I was accepted by the pack quite quickly. It got a bit hairy, no pun intended, when I became the alpha male. Eventually I realized that two of the other wolves were Christian Bale and Daniel Day-Lewis.” 2013 has been a productive year for Cumberbatch, having roles in blockbusters such as “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, “Star Trek Into Darkness”, “The Fifth Estate” and “12 Years a Slave”.
